ABOUT High-efficiency mechanical lock and coupling systems that support factory automation
Couplings are used in a wide range of applications as a joint between two shafts such as a motor shaft and ball screw spindle. Through the use of original mechanisms, ISEL achieves high torsional rigidity and low moment of inertia, contributing to improved specif ications. We also have created original mechanisms for the mechanical locks that are used as mechanical elements in all kinds of industrial machinery. These help to improve ef f iciency, such as by reducing assembly man-hours. Flexible customization is also available to meet customer requests, such as changes to the outer diameter or inner diameter, or changing screws to increase torque. So that ISEL Mecha-locks and couplings can help to reduce environmental impacts, complete management of chemical substances contained in the products is carried out. We are working to help protect the global environment through our customers with products that have low environmental impacts.

PICK UP
MA Series
This is a high-precision steel model that delivers high centering performance. The inner ring counter lock shape and high machining accuracy reduce peripheral and side runout, providing high centering performance that does not depend on the hub shape. A standard lineup of anti-corrosion stainless steel types (MSA Series) and plating types (MKA Series) is also available.

PRODUCT STORY
The ISEL ceaseless pursuit of
high precision was the catalyst
for the development of high-precision Mecha-locks.
When the company was first founded, we designed an manufactured industrial machinery such as punching systems for paper work and bending roll machines.
At that time, machine shafts and gears were generally fastened by means of a key. However there were issues with key fastening, such as phase alignment and backlash caused by aging. However products which used friction fasteners at that time were not able to satisfy the required fastening accuracy. For these reasons, in order to improve the precision of our company’s machines, we began development of the high-precision frictional fasteners that are now the “Mecha-lock MA Series.” In the early stages of development, productivity was lacking due to the absence of production machines with good machining accuracy such as those that exist today, and we faced myriad issues including deformation after machining and tightening.
In order to resolve these issues, we conducted scientific analysis of material structures and heat treatment methods, selected the optimal machining conditions, and conducted repeated tests using test systems which we developed ourselves. As a result of repeated data collection and analysis, discussion, and prototyping, the “Mecha-lock MA Series” of friction fasteners with extremely high machining accuracy, quality, and runout precision was born.

PICK UP
AC Series
This is a disk coupling that features a new slit shape. Fastening using an ISEL original inside clamp mechanism minimizes installation runout and allows high-precision centering. We succeeded in creating more compact products in the axial direction, and the single disk specification ACS Series achieves the industry smallest class of L dimension among any aluminum disk spring couplings.

PRODUCT STORY
These products were developed independently
by ISEL in order to improve the feed accuracy
of equipment for semiconductors.
Development was started following calls within the company to reduce variation in feed accuracy caused by the coupling to as close to zero as possible. These products demonstrate characteristic ISEL patentability, and customers can see at a glance that these are products with unique characteristics. We also wanted to create products with better specifications and lower prices than similar products from other companies.
We expended great effort in analyzing the strain that occurs in couplings and in improving the specifications and satisfying market price requirements. Through CAM analysis, and the construction of expertise through trial and error, we were eventually able to overcome these challenges. The strengths of the completed AC Series include the slit shape that allows stress-free fastening, weight balance that achieves smooth rotation, and a disk spring with optimal balance of rigidity and flexibility.
Many customers have expressed their satisfaction with both the price and performance, and although the development process was difficult, we strongly feel that we succeed in creating a characteristic ISEL product.

MC Series
This Mecha-lock uses a bearing retainer with a new mechanism that is the first of its kind in the industry. Because the collar which holds the bearing that was required for assembly is integrated with the Mecha-lock body, no work for installing the collar is necessary and no space is required for it, improving work efficiency and saving space.

AH Series
These ultra-high rigidity disk spring couplings were developed for feed shafts. We succeeded in reducing the size while still maintaining the maximum allowable torque. This achieves a lower moment of inertia.
